Animal Control & Animal Shelter
The Guilderland Animal Control unit is overseen by the police department and is staffed with two full-time civilian Animal Control Officers who are responsible for handling all animal-related calls in the town.

The Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) handles a wide variety of cases within the Police Department. Members of the CIU carry a caseload, work on assigned tasks, and assist the Patrol Unit when needed. The CIU primarily handles felony cases.

Retail Interdiction Detail
The Guilderland Police Department, in partnership with Crossgates Mall and Pyramid Management Group, began a community enhancement pilot program on February 1, 2020, which will station Guilderland Police Officers onsite at Crossgates.
