 Directions

From Western Avenue

Turn onto Route 146 West and go past Tawasentha Park. Turn RIGHT onto French's Mill Road.

From Altamont

Take Route 146 East and turn LEFT onto French's Mill Road.

Household Hazardous Waste Day

Household Hazardous Waste Day will be held on Saturday October 3rd 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Guilderland Highway Department 6338 French's Mill Road. Guilderland Center, NY 12085.

 This event is for Town of Guilderland residents only, not for businesses or farms. You will not need to pre-register for the event but must bring proof of residency. Proof of residency is a valid New York State Driver's License or current Town tax bill, or a current town parks and transfer station sticker. The current color is Teal or red.

Please do not show up more than 15 minutes before start time. There is not enough room to park before the event and there is no parking along side of the road allowed.

Additional Information

The Guilderland Transfer Station is only open to people bringing in material from the Town of Guilderland. We do not accept material from outside the Town of Guilderland. Proof of residency is required to use the Transfer Station.

Guilderland Parks and Transfer Station decals are required and can be issued at the Transfer Station, Parks office, or the Town Clerk's office at Town Hall. Bring your vehicle registration to get the decal. The current color is red. The Decals are also needed for the entrance to the town park and are also good for the Hazardous Waste Day event.

Message regarding brush brought in to the Transfer Station

Please note Brush and yard waste is only accepted from the Town of Guilderland. No out of town waste allowed. Brush must be no larger than 12 inches in diameter and cut to 4 foot lengths. Grass clippings, leaves are accepted. 

Stumps, root balls, dirt, sod, rocks, or any lumber is not allowed. 

Commercial businesses / Landscapers must stop at office before dumping.

Scale Hours

Please note: Scales close every day at 3:30. There is no clean outs of house/garage/attic/basement etc. accepted during our Wednesday evening hours. All this material is only accepted Tuesday to Saturday 7:30 to 3:30. Thank you.

Garden Mulch

Garden mulch produced by the Town's yard waste collection and composting program is currently AVAILABLE.

When available you can load mulch yourself for free or pay $4 per yard for us to load it into your pickup or trailer with our loader.
